The Value Chain Development Programme of the International Food for Agricultural Development (IFAD-VCDP) has asked Benue farmers not to trade the farming inputs they are given.
Benue State Programme Coordinator of IFAD-VCDP , Mr Emmanuel Igbaukum, made this known at the launch of the 2018 distribution of farm inputs in Taraku, Gwer Local Government Area of the state.
He said that selling the inputs given to them would be counter-productive to the goal of the gesture and would in the long run lead to food shortage.
Igbaukum emphasised that selling off the inputs would discourage other organizations from helping the farmers in the nearest future.
He stated that the goal of giving inputs was to augment agricultural produce and ensure steady production of food in the state.
