The Zero Hunger Commodity Association of Nigeria has urged the Federal Government to improve the quality of farm inputs given to farmers under its Anchor Borrowers’Programme.National Coordinator of the association, Dr. Tunde Arosanyin, who made this appeal in Abuja, described the inputs distributed to farmers as “a bit substandard”.

According to him, “If you look at the quality of inputs that are coming from CBN and other inputs suppliers, they are a bit substandard. For instance, the fertilizers are hygroscopic, that is, they attract so much water. Most farmers lost 50 percent of what they received before usage.” He added.

The Anchor Borrowers’ Programme, which is championed by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) was launched by President Muhammadu Buhari in 2015.It is targeted at establishing a linkage between anchor processing companies and smallholder farmers of the required key agricultural commodities.
