Kaduna state government has inaugurated a 25-man board of the state Livestock Regulatory Agency to establish and regulate the standards of livestock production in the state.
Speaking at the inauguration, the state Commissioner for Agriculture and Forestry, Dr Manzo Maigari, said the agency would help in supporting livestock farmers
Maigari said that the agency comes with benefits and one of those benefits includes increasing the income of hundreds of thousands of farmers who rely on the industry for a source income.
He also charged the agency to work hard to attract both local and foreign investors, saying that talks have already begun with investors from the middle East for the export of goats from Nigeria.
The Chairman of the board, Alhaji Balarabe Ibrahim-Jamo, said that establishing the board took a lot of hardwork and commitment.
Ibrahim-Jamo said, “We shall, therefore, strive to meet the aspirations of the government and justify the trust reposed in us.”
